What the implant estimator works out: 12 jobs
- Dental implant cost calculator tap the missing teeth on the chart and see the price for exactly those teeth, not one national average.
- Cost by state US prices scaled to your state with the 2024 Synchrony state table.
- Extraction and bone graft cost add the extras a quote often leaves out: pulling the tooth, a bone graft or a sinus lift.
- Check your quote type the price a dentist quoted and see where it falls against the survey's specialist, overall and dearest-city medians for your state.
- Monthly payments drag the slider to spread the bill over 6 to 60 months and see the monthly amount.
- What a dental plan pays enter the plan's maximum, deductible and share, for one plan year on the estimator or split across two on the insurance page.
- Implants abroad, in your currency pick where you live (17 countries) and where you'd travel; the clinic price at the destination appears in your money, then the full total once flights and hotel are in, with days off and a repair reserve.
- State price map tap any state on the map, or the buttons for the small ones, to see its implant price.
- Implant, bridge or partial over 20 years one missing tooth: which option costs least over time, with failure rates from published studies.
- Full-mouth and All-on-4 over 20 years a whole jaw: fixed bridge against snap-in and plain dentures, per arch or both, with your own upkeep assumption.
- HSA, FSA and tax savings how much paying from a health account or deducting the bill can save, checked against the 2026 or 2027 limits.
- Veneers cost price porcelain or composite veneers for the number of teeth you want, from the 2023 survey, adjusted to your state.
Veneers are thin coverings bonded to the front of the teeth. They come up on this site because people pricing implants often price a "smile makeover" at the same time. Unlike an implant, a veneer is usually a cosmetic choice, and that changes who pays.
What the ADA says they are
The ADA's consumer site describes veneers as custom-made, natural-looking coverings that cover only the front surface of a tooth. Porcelain veneers are thin shells made to fit; composite veneers are tooth-colored filling material bonded directly to the tooth, may need less enamel removed and fewer visits, and are easier to repair, but resist stains and wear less well. The ADA says treatment is not reversible because enamel is removed, that veneers can chip, crack, wear or loosen over time, and that they may not suit people who clench or grind their teeth (MouthHealthy, veneers, checked 30 Oct 2026).
Published prices

| Composite, made in a lab | $1,373 |
| Porcelain | $1,765 |
| Porcelain laminate | $1,817 |
| Full set of porcelain veneers (6 to 8 teeth) | $15,486 per set |
Source: the 2023 Synchrony Average Procedural Cost Study (cost tables dated October 2023), as CareCredit's procedure cost page still lists it for veneers (sources), checked 30 Oct 2026 and rechecked 6 Nov 2026. The rest of that page comes from the 2024 study; the veneer lines are footnoted to the 2023 one. The calculator above scales them with your state's index from the 2024 implant table, which is an approximation: neither study publishes veneer prices by state.
Worked examples
| Plan | Arithmetic | Total |
|---|---|---|
| Six porcelain veneers, national | 6 × $1,765 | $10,590 |
| Eight porcelain veneers, national | 8 × $1,765 | $14,120 |
| Full-set line in the same survey | quoted as one price | $15,486 |
| Six in-office composite veneers, New York (index 1.037) | 6 × $872 × 1.037 | about $5,430 |
The set price is higher than eight single veneers added up. The survey doesn't explain why, and the two lines may simply come from different practices. When you get a quote, ask whether it is per tooth or for the set, and what is included, such as a trial smile or extra planning visits.
Worked example: four upper front teeth in California
California's index is 1.274 (its single-implant average of $2,730 over the national $2,143). Someone wants the four upper front teeth covered.
| Choice | Per tooth, California | Four teeth |
|---|---|---|
| Porcelain veneers | $1,765 × 1.274 = $2,248 | about $8,990 |
| In-office composite veneers | $872 × 1.274 = $1,111 | about $4,440 |
| Difference | about $4,550 |
Set the calculator above to California, 4 teeth and either type and it gives the same two totals, rounded to the nearest $10. Composite halves the bill here. Set that against the trade-offs the ADA lists for composite in the first section of this page. Our reading: the cheaper option may need redoing sooner. How much sooner, nobody publishes, which is why the calculator stops at day one.
Veneer, bonding or crown?
These three often come up in the same conversation. They do different jobs, and the prices below come from two editions of the same survey.
| Treatment | National average, per tooth | Study | What it does |
|---|---|---|---|
| Dental bonding | $431 | 2024 | Tooth-colored resin applied to the tooth and shaped there |
| Composite veneer, made in the office | $872 | 2023 | A thin resin layer over the whole front surface |
| Porcelain veneer | $1,765 | 2023 | A thin porcelain shell over the front surface |
| Porcelain crown | $1,399 | 2024 | A cap made to cover the whole visible tooth |
Bonding and crown lines: the cosmetic and routine sections of CareCredit's cost table, read 7 Nov 2026; the crown line is explained on what an implant quote includes. The calculator doesn't price bonding, but at California's index four bonded teeth would come to about 4 × $431 × 1.274 = $2,196, our calculation. A porcelain veneer averaging more than a porcelain crown looks odd; the two figures come from different study years and the survey gives no reason, so ask each practice for both prices if your dentist says either would do.
Over the years
We didn't find a published survival figure for veneers that we could verify, so the calculator doesn't predict replacements. What the ADA does say is that veneers may need re-bonding, repair or replacement. Budget for that the way you'd budget for any repair, and ask the practice what it charges to repair a chipped veneer and to replace one.
Who pays
- Dental insurance. MouthHealthy notes that cosmetic veneers may not be covered unless they're medically necessary.
- HSA and FSA. IRS Publication 502 says cosmetic surgery generally isn't a medical expense, with exceptions for deformities from a congenital abnormality, an injury or a disfiguring disease, and excludes teeth whitening outright (IRS Pub. 502). Veneers chosen only to change how teeth look generally won't qualify; a crown or veneer that repairs an injured tooth may. Ask your plan administrator before paying.
- Financing. If you're offered a card with "no interest if paid in full", read the CFPB's warning on deferred interest; the rate it found is on what to ask before signing.
Before you decide
The ADA says decay or gum disease should be treated first. Questions worth asking:
- How much enamel will be removed, and can composite be done with less?
- Is the price per tooth or for the set, and does it include a trial smile?
- Would whitening, bonding or orthodontics get a similar result for less?
- What do repairs and replacements cost here?
- If I grind my teeth, will I need a night guard, and what does it cost?
